LEGO DUPLO is so well loved that almost every home owns these building blocks. It turns out these favorite toys are versatile for teaching at home, too! You can very easily turn the bases into a geoboard for kids!

We are using our ALEX Toys Prism Bricks Bases for this activity because we love the colors! We added a bowl of loom bands to complete our invitation to play.
I began by showing the kids how we could stretch the bands around the pegs on the bases to create lines, shapes, and even letters! It was fabulous fine motor work as we reviewed the alphabet and our shapes.
We tested the idea out on traditional LEGO DUPLO bases, too. We're happy to report that both work beautifully!
Our daughter is working to strengthen her hand muscles but she had success with this activity.
One tip we found that worked well was to use a finger to hold down the band on the peg you start with so you don't shoot it off into the air as you're trying to connect the other side!
Do your kids love DUPLO? Do you have bases and loom bands at home? We'd love to hear in the comments if you try this activity!
