We've gathered real acorns to explore and crafted our own in all the acorn activities for kids we've tried over the years! This autumn season we made an acorn discovery bottle that is perfect for sensory play outside or on the light table.

Have you ever made discovery bottles for your kids? We love to change them out for the seasons and holidays. We decided to fill our autumn sensory bottle with acorns and glitter this year.
We love VOSS water bottles for sensory play. They are available in plastic, too! I carefully scraped the label off with a razor blade which is obviously a job for adults only.
We filled our sensory bottle with corn syrup, hot water, acrylic acorns, and Craft Project Ideas' fine glitter in fall colors. We're grateful that Craft Project Ideas' sends us craft supplies to try out!
The more corn syrup you use, the slower your acorns will move in the sensory bottle. We filled about a third of our bottle with corn syrup and the rest of the liquid was water.
This discovery bottle looks amazing on the light table since the acorns are transparent! We'll be counting the acorns on the light table more and more as it gets dark earlier but we'll also take this bottle outside in the sunlight or play in the window all season long!
