Favorite Fine Motor Toys

Kids work on their fine motor skills while playing with their favorite toys! They don't even realize they are strengthening their hands for writing while they play. Here are our recommendations of the best fine motor toys available.

The best fine motor toys to strengthen kids hands while play!

Our list only contains fine motor toys that we have in our home (and many that I also had in my kindergarten classroom). We truly know and love these well played with favorites:

Our favorite fine motor board game is Sneaky Snacky Squirrel! It's so much fun to play as the tongs work pincer grasps. We love preschool board games and this one is on the top of our list.

For construction we love MegablocksZoobs, Tinker Toys, and of course Duplo! My children haven't yet entered the wonderful world of Lego but my students loved them so I can hardly wait!

Large plastic Nuts & Bolts provide color and shape matching and pattern opportunities as well as fine motor practice.

The Melissa and Doug Geometric Stacker is visually appealing and versatile for all ages! Children can stack in any way but older kids are challenged to put the pieces in the correct order. Everyone will want to try (adults included)!

You know we love our Toddler Busy Box especially because we can repurpose as my preschooler practices letters and sight words!

While not intended to be a fine motor toy Squinkies are my preschoolers absolute favorite toy for over a year now! She loves collect them all, create pretend play scenarios, and I love how the Squinkies Play Sets have tiny pegs for the holes in the bottom of the Squinkies for excellent fine motor work when positioning the toys.

Our toddler's absolute favorite fine motor toys are his Sorting Eggs! He breaks them, squeaks them, whistles through them, and them my preschooler sorts them back in the box by shape. I'm sure he'll be up to this challenge since he loves his Shape Sorting Box.

I asked each of my Fine Motor Fridays colleagues to recommend their favorite fine motor toys, too! These links are their own affiliate links.
