During any creative play with math manipulatives patterns will emerge. We put a hundred chart on our light table to explore numeric patterns in a colorful way!

We created this math invitation to play and learn by putting a hundred chart transparency on our ALEX Toys Prism Light Center. We learned how to print our own light table transparencies from Where Imagination Grows so we stocked up on inkjet transparencies.
I asked our preschooler E to use our favorite colorful transparent counters to mark numbers. (We once created a beautiful rainbow suncatcher in our window with these same counters!) First she chose to mark all of the even numbers as she practiced counting by twos. Then she marked the fives and tens.
