Duck Snack for Kids

This adorable duck themed snack is perfect after reading Make Way for Ducklings! The best part of all is that our kids made it completely independently, too!

We love hosting Book Club Play Dates! Invite over a few friends, read a favorite children's book, then present fun activities and snacks that go along with the story! This month we've planned activities for the classic story Make Way for Ducklings

We used rice cakes, blueberry yogurt colored a bit more blue with food coloring, and duck crackers for our snack. Unfortunately, I can't find a link online for the crackers we used. We got ours at a bulk food store.

I invited our kids, ages five and two, to spread the yogurt on the rice cakes themselves with a child safe knife. They loved being trusted with this task!

They added a few ducks to their pond. The texture of the rice cake and the stickiness of the yogurt allows the ducks to float upright on the "water" perfectly! The snack required developmentally appropriate fine motor skills for toddlers and preschoolers.

Please watch the cooking show E asked me to film for this snack. She really tells it best!
