One of the absolute best parts of living in the neighborhood where we live is having neighbors with kids around the same age as ours. Some days this means lots of outdoor play together and other days it means we can borrow an amazing tool to create process art. The kids experimented with markers and airbrushing.

The first time we tried the Crayola Marker Airbrush Set with our neighbors the kids had a blast giving themselves temporary tattoos with washable markers and stencils. This time we wanted to concentrate on the process so we ditched the stencils. I invited our kids to create anything they'd like with the airbrush technique.
The Crayola Marker Airbrush Set is super simple to use. You pump the air tank then the air blows the marker onto the paper when your child pulls the trigger. It's a fun way to sneak in some extra fine motor skills!
Our daughter E created a "meadow" with flowers and a person. She added a rainbow since it was raining and the sun was out. It was such a nice break in our weekend to be chatting with her about her art as she worked. Concentrating on the process of making art really provides an opportunity for conversation.
Our toddler D pumped the air tank while his sister painted. The Crayola Marker Airbrush Set works best as kids collaborate together in this way. We practiced teamwork and taking turns during this process art invitation.
When it was D's turn to make his artwork, he said he wanted to make a "brown snake" which totally sounded and looked like something else at first to me! I bit my lip and reminded myself that it was about the process of allowing him to create his "snake" in any color he wanted.
Of course, when the kids were done I fell in love with both of their masterpieces because they had worked so hard to make art that was all theirs. The process, the time we spent together, was the absolute best part.
We highly recommend the Crayola Marker Airbrush Set for plenty of creative activities in your classroom or home!
