Has there ever been a more classic spring story than Peter Rabbit? We created a sensory bin for the children's book to retell the plot as we play!

Playmobil pieces were perfect for our Peter Rabbit small world. This is a combination of several sets that we've collected over the years but I think most of the pieces are available in the garden and rabbit sets!
If you follow us on Instagram you probably saw our daughter's list of characters and props she wanted to retell the story! First, we have Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail staying near home as they listen to their mother's warnings.
We filled the rest of the sensory bin with expired oats but you could also use real soil or bird seed. Our kids liked being able to scoop and pour the oats which is another fine motor benefit of playing with a sensory bin.
We all know that Peter Rabbit didn't listen to his mother! He couldn't resist sneaking into Mr. McGregor's garden to snack on the vegetables.
Our daughter insisted we include Mrs. McGregor too! She was a bit stuck on the fact that this woman in the story would turn pesky rabbits into pies. She wanted to put a pie in our sensory bin too but I talked her out of it!
Once spotted, Peter tries to escape the garden but he gets stuck in the fence! The birds cheer him on to struggle to escape.
Finally he breaks free as Mr. McGregor tries to trap him in a bucket! He runs home to the safety of his mother. Do you think he learned his lesson?
